Rapid publication

It is our aim to conduct a thorough yet rapid peer review for all papers submitted to JCAR.     We normally expect the time between submission to publication (of accepted papers) to be:

  • If authors choose to submit the paper to the section entitled ‘Submissions in Peer Review’, they may expect rapid publication of the manuscript .
  • On average it will take 5.5 months to undergo peer review, copyediting, and layout and be published online in the ‘Articles’ section.
  • We expect a standard deviation of 6 weeks to appear in the ‘Submissions in Peer Review’ section.   This is variable depending largely on the written and display quality of submitted articles.
  • We expect a standard deviation of 3.5 months between receipt and publication of peer reviewed ‘Articles’ of JCAR.   So roughly two thirds of articles will be published between 2 months and 9 months from the date received.

These peer review times are fast for a thorough peer review and are faster than most other journals in the field.   We expect to achieve these times by responding quickly as editors and making a careful decision regarding what is achievable in terms of major revisions by the authors.
